Texas America 250

Raymond Mays Middle School Library is excited to announce participation in the statewide Texas America250 Reading Challenge in partnership with the Texas Center for the Book and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
In honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary, RMMS students are invited to log 2,500 minutes (41.6 hours) of reading, service, and exploration between now and April 30, 2026.
Students can earn minutes by:
-
Reading books or listening to audiobooks
-
Attending library programs
-
Volunteering in the community
-
Visiting a Texas State Park
Participants who complete the challenge will be eligible to receive a special certificate signed by Greg Abbott. Students can track their progress using the “Mosey Along the Reading Trail” log, available from Mrs. Mace in the library. Once completed (with parent/guardian signatures), students should return their logs to receive their official completion certificate.
Mrs. Mace hopes to recognize all student finishers at the May school board meeting as we join communities across Texas in celebrating learning, service, and history.
We look forward to seeing our students read, explore, and give back as we commemorate this historic milestone together!
