TEEF Grants at Work: Author Visit
Raymond Mays Middle School (RMMS) hosted a virtual visit with New York best selling author Gordon Korman, creating an unforgettable experience for eighth-grade students. The visit, made possible by a TEEF grant was a treat for both students and teachers.
The author shared his journey, including how he wrote his first book in seventh grade. The author has now written over 100 books which struck a chord with students, inspiring many to believe in their own potential and pursue their passions, even at a young age.
Bethany Tucker, grant recipient and teacher at RMMS shared, “My students and I are so grateful for the opportunity to speak with an author as accomplished as Gordon Korman. He gave students a sneak peak at books that will be published soon and the students have already expressed interest in reading them.”
The visit emphasized the importance of reading and writing, showing students how these skills can impact their lives in meaningful ways.
Through the power of storytelling our school continues to foster a love for reading and writing among our students.
