Welcome

Pre-Algebra (8th grade math) students categorize numbers based on their characteristics, learn scientific notation, understand variability and consistency, begin the fundamental concepts of linear functions, study triangle angles, use the Pythagorean Theorem, transform shapes on a coordinate plane, utilize formulas to find surface area and perimeter of three-dimensional shapes, and perform basic financial calculations involving simple and compound interest including saving and paying for college!

Advanced Algebra I students will recieve high school credit for this course! They continue the study of linear functions, systems, and inequalities, begin exploring quadratic and exponential functions, solve quadratic equations using several methods, learn basic exponent rules, and understand and use arithmetic and geometric sequences.

Both classes will be operating on a Building Thinking Classes (Liljedahl 2021) framework, if you are interested in researching these methods.
